Interventionen 2017 will present a number of successful antidiscrimination and diversity practices specifically focussed on building sustainable structures in the arts and culture sector. We invite participants to un-learn, re-connect with and discover best practices in the arts and cultural work of marginalised stakeholders, experts and ambassadors of diversity in practice. This will include independent groups and established institutions.
The program is open to all participants, whether experts in the field or new to the topic. A number of the workshops and talks are specifically designed as introductions to the topic. Other parts of the program are focussed on looking at strategies and approaches in more detail and depth.
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Kontext Asyl, a group of 5 Critical Friends who analyze the field of cultural education work from and with asylum seekers, invite you to a talk with self-organized groups. We will be asking how cultural education in refugee contexts relates to cultural and political work. Following this discussion, Mensch, Willkommen!, a project of the GRIPS Theater for newly arrived and old-time Berliners, presents their best-of-program. This event will provide plenty of opportunities for exchange and networking.
Please find the detailed program here.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY
During the day, there will be workshops, lectures and panels with actors from theory and practice presenting strategies and methods that foster diversity in personnel, audience and program and create access to self-representation of marginalized actors:
Alternative approaches to the production of knowledge (current and historical), decolonial perspectives in art production, interventions (for structural change), questions of visibility and accesses in the cultural sector, approaches and programs for diversification in cultural enterprises and cultural administrations at the municipal, federal states’ and national level.
In the evenings various artistic projects with empowering and participative approaches dealing with the self-representation of marginalized communities will be shown.
At the closing event on Saturday evening there will be local and international music acts, who in different ways negotiate life in diaspora and self-empowerment as women of color.
With Elsa alias AMET, Kedi Mina & Leila Akinyi, among others.
